other harmful drug. Also,to sniff up harmful drugs is to draw them in
through the nose. E.g, the sniffing up of snuff(a powdered tobacco)
through the nostril.
Below are some of the reasons why it is ungodly,unholy and sinful to
smoke or sniff up harmful drrugs:
1. IT DESTROYS GOD'S TEMPLE: 'know ye not that ye are the temple of
God, and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you? If any man defile the
temple of God him shall God destroy, for the temple of God is holy,
which temple ye are'(1Cor.3:16-17).
Research tells us that smoking of cigarette causes stroke and other
deadly heart diseases, which are the leading cause of death. Even the
Fedral Ministry of Health warns that smokers are liable to die young.
God built us, He formed us, we are his workmanship(His craft and
handiwork)(Eph.2:10). We are God's building(1Cor.3:9). You did not
create yourself, It took God time to create you. God bestowed his
effort on you to see that you are fearfully and wonderfully made. It
is therefore sinful and barbaric to intentionally destroy God's work
with your own hands, to kill the cells of your body, to cut short the
span of God's investment. You think God will be happy with you? You
think you won't pay dearly for being an ingrate.
2. IT DEPICTS LOTUS-EATING:
Lotus-eating is the act of giving oneself to indulgence in pleasure
and luxury. A true christian, who is genuinely saved and heaven-minded
will always live his/her life in moderation(Phil.4:5). As a true
follower of Christ you don't do things because others are doing it,
because you want to show off or because you want to prove a point but
because they are worthwhile(worth the time, money or effort spent; As
we know, smoking and sniffing don't worth the time,money and effort
spent on them). We also do things, because they will add value to both
our spiritual and physical wellbeing(not just for the fun of it).
Smoking or sniffing up of harmful drugs is simply done for the sake
of carnal pleasure(since they do not add value to our lives). They are
only good at wallowing in, nothing more. Pleasure-seeking and
lotus-eating are clear indications of Lust,carnality and pride, which
are sinful.
'...in the last days perilious times shall come. For men shall be
lovers of their ownselves..lovers of pleasure more than lovers of
God'(2Tim.3:1,2,4).
3. IT MAKES YOU UNFIT FOR GOD'S HABITATION:
A person whose place of abode is gradually dilapidating, will
certainly move out of such place. If you gradually destroy God's
temple(God's building) with smoking and sniffing, do you think the
Spirit of God will continue to dwell in you? And If the Spirit of God
leaves you, can we still say you are a Child of God? No of course
because 'For as many as are led by the Spirit of God they are the son
of God(Rom.B:14) and now that the Spirit of God has left you, being
controlled by an unclean spirit, you are of the devil.
Little wonder you see those under the influence of these drugs
behave violently(telling us that they are possessed and controlled by
an unclean spirit, since the Spirit of God has left them).
If you are trapped in smoking and sniffing, there is hope because 'If
my people which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and
pray and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways, then will I
hear from heaven, and will forgive their sins and will heal their
land'(2Chr.7:14).
Acknowledge your sins, repent(regretting and make up your mind not
to go back to them) and confess them, ask for forgiveness and believe
in your heart that Jesus died and rose, thereby shedding His blood for
the remission of your sins.
